Painful feelings simply don’t disappear right away. Left untreated, they usually masquerade and come out one way or another. This could be in varied forms such as insomnia, mysterious pain, unexplained physical ailment, headaches, ulcer, backaches, weight loss, anxiety attacks, depression, anger outbursts, and even schizophrenia.
Often, painful feelings give a first clue to how a present crisis or trauma is stirring up “old unfinished business” from the past. The key is to adequately deal with them so they don’t overwhelm or defeat you. Painful feelings then can serve a good purpose – a bright light in the night – if you allow them to point out the way to healing and growth in your life.
